Perspectives on Providence: Sights, Stories, and Secrets of the East Side is our most
classic sightseeing experience—an easy, engaging way to get your bearings while
discovering the people, places, and turning points that shaped the city. Traveling in
comfort, guests will take in a curated route through Providence’s East Side, with
multiple scenic photo stops. Along the way, we’ll step briefly into landmarks like the
Rhode Island State House and Roger Williams National Memorial, while also pointing
out restaurants, galleries, and green spaces worth a return visit.
More than a tour of sights, this experience tells the story of Providence through its East
Side—from colonial merchants to industrial titans to modern innovators, the ways
people built wealth here reveal the evolution of the city itself. As we move through
distinct districts, you’ll see how each era left its mark, offering a deeper understanding
of how Providence grew, prospered, and continues to reinvent itself today.

Tours are rain or shine! This tour is a van tour with minimal outdoor time between each stop. Only in dangerous weather conditions will a tour be canceled. A tour guide will reach out to you the morning of the tour to let you know if a tour is canceled- if you have not been contacted, assume the tour is proceeding as scheduled.
Guests should wear comfortable clothes and wear weather-appropriate attire.
The Providence Marriott has a parking lot. You do not need to pay to park, unless you are staying overnight at the Marriott.
We love giving tours to private groups- we find that some of the best bonding experiences happen when a group is learning something new together.
There are incentives for groups of 10 or above, and we can customize tours to make them more suitable for your group’s budget or timeline. Please send us a message to learn more about group tour options and pricing, or cut straight to the chase and request a private tour.
Tour guide tips are not included in the tour price, but are appreciated when a guide exceeds your expectations. A generous tip is anywhere between $5-10 per guest.
Tours can be canceled for any reason up to seven days after purchase. The Providence Tour Company also offers trip protection, which allows guests to cancel up to 48 hours before the tour is to begin. The fee for trip protection is a flat 10% of the ticket price.
